Advantages: None in my opinion its HORRIBLE !!
Disadvantages: Where do I start ? Its too strong, makes me feel ill, is expensive, I could go on ....
The latest item in my Lush collection is the Flying Fox Temple balm and I must say I am not at all impressed.
I have a few of the little pots of fragrence, my favorite being Honey I washed The Kids, I also have Potion which is lovely. Lush make 2 sorts of fragrences in little metal tins, one lot is called solid fragrence, however some are called temple balm, to me they all seem the same though, solid creams which have aromas of different Lush products.
The one I have just bought is Flying Fox Temple Balm and Im afraid I do not have a good word to say about it. I usually enjoy writing my reviews about all the gorgeous things I have tried from Lush and I can go into detail about the loveliness of the product, not today Im afraid !
The balm comes in a 10g screw top metal tin, the cost is £4.25. The product itself is a creamy colour with a hint of pale orange, it is easy to use, just rub your finger over the top of the cream and then rub it on your wrists.
The scents used for this are Ylang Ylang and Jasmine, I like these smells however they are not my cup of tea when mixed in this temple balm.
I put on a very small amount as I know that Lush products usually have a good amount of scent in them. Even with this small amount the aroma was overwhelming and made me feel very ill, I couldnt stand it, I immidiatly wanted it off me.
I went to the bathroom and tried to wash the smell off but it would not budge, so I grabbed out some of my snowcake soap because it has a nice strong odour and has little bits of coconut in it which I hoped would scrub the smell from me but it wouldnt go.
I got very anoyed sitting in the bathroom trying to get rid of the temple balm from my skin, I washed off as much as I could and then decided as I could still smell I would go and get my honey balm and put loads of that on, it covered it pretty well but every now and then I caught a whiff of the Flying Fox.
This is the first Lush product which i have disliked so much that I got rid of it ( didnt throw it away as its an expensive item, I put it on ebay to try and make a bit of the money I spent on it back) and I will now stick to the balms which I know and like.
The ingridients for the Flying Fox Temple Balms as given on the Lush website are -
Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis)
Chinese Angelica
Burdock Root and Jasmine Flower Infusion (Angelica sinensis)
Arctium lappa and Jasminum officinale)
Beeswax (Cera alba)
Cetearyl Alcohol
Perfume
Laneth-40
Cold Pressed Organic Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera biennis) Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil
Carnauba Wax
Sodium Borate (Borax)
asmine Absolute (Jasminum officinale)
Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata)
Cypress Oil (Cupressus sempervirens)
Palmarosa Oil (Cymbopogon martini)
Glycerine
Benzyl Salicylate
Citral
Geraniol
Benzyl Benzoate
Farnesol
Limonene
Linalool
Methylparaben
Propylparaben
So, as you can see, quite alot goes into this balm, I think perhaps I will stick to the simpler fragrences as this was just too intense.
Of course this is just my opinion, many people I know like this and it seems to be very popular, its just not for me.
Summary: An overpowering concerntrated fragrence from The Flying Fox Shower gel made into a temple balm.
