Full Marks Head Lice Solution
Advantages: works well, quick and easy to use
Disadvantages: drips everywhere, greasy
***The box and it's contents***
The box is purple and white with a cartoon drawing of child on the front along with writing that tells you what the product is.
The packaging is fairly eye catching on shop shelves, mostly I think because a lot of these kinds of products seem to use green and/or neutral colours for their packaging and so the purple of this one is a bit different.
Inside the box you will find a 100ml bottle of solution which is a clear plastic with a white lid. There is also a comb with metal teeth and a plastic handle and an easy to understand instruction and information leaflet.
***Price and availability***
Full Marks solution is available in a 100ml or 200ml bottle for 2 or 4 treatments. A solution spray is also available as are separate combs.
I found this in my local bodycare for £2.99 for a 100ml bottle. I thought this was a great price and a fair bit cheaper than similar products.
Asda sell the solution for £3.75 for 100ml, which again is a good price.
There are many other places that sell this head lice solution, it is easy to find online and in the highstreet but it is worth shopping around as some places can be much more expensive than others, Boots for example charge £11.59 (this would get you 44 points if you have an advantage card) for the 200ml version of this which is much more than I paid even when you consider the size difference.
***Using Full Marks solution***
Full marks say that this is quick and easy to use and I do find that they are correct! To use you simply apply to hair, ensuring you rub it in and cover all of the hair on your head, leave for the allotted time, comb through the hair and then wash out.
The thing I love the most about this solution is that you only need to leave it on for 10 minutes. This is much more practical than some solutions which require you to leave them on hair overnight.
One thing I find very annoying is that the solution is very thin and greasy and drips all over the place when you are applying it. I find I need to get my daughter to sit on a towel when I am applying this to her hair as it starts dripping off the ends before I'm finished. This can get a little messy unless you do use towels to catch the drips.
The product makes your hair very easy to comb through, so I don't find it difficult at all to comb through hair with the nit comb provided in the pack. The comb is a fairly good one (although we have a nitty gritty comb which I prefer to use), the prongs don't break easily and the handle is easy to grip but I think the teeth could probably do with being a little longer.
When you are all done with your treatment I find it is best to wash and rinse hair at least 3 times, otherwise you end up looking like you have been dipped in grease! My hair actually feels a little softer after using this product though when I finally get it all washed out.
You are supposed to re-apply the solution around a week after the first treatment to ensure that all head lice and eggs have been killed and that re-infestation has not occurred. There is plenty of solution for two treatments (the product is marketed as being the size for two treatments), I can usually actually get three treatments out of a 100ml bottle used on shoulder length hair.
It is usually best to treat everyone in the household at the same time to prevent head lice being passed from person to person.
I was very pleased with the results of this solution. All signs of itching and head lice were gone in one simple painless treatment of this solution on my daughter's hair.
I gave this 4 stars rather than five because although it is a fantastic product that works well it is a bit messy and you do have to wash your hair several times after using the solution to get all traces of it out. I would recommend this to others though as this is a very effective product and can be found at great prices.
Summary: A good effective product, but a little messy.
