This afternoon I've spent 2 hours sitting in my local NHS drop in centre. Past week I've felt a cold coming on but pretty much ignored it and battled through cos it was Christmas and New Year was fast approaching! Anyway I got to see a Dr today and I have a chest infection and I'm a bit run down in general so I have antibiotics and some paracematmol with the usual advise of taking it easy and Drinking loads of fluid but no alcohol! lol

On the way home, I thought I won't be out for a few days as I feel so lousy so I'll grab what I need from Sainsburys and I got a couple of packets of these an some other smilar ones.
Of course I've had Hall's Soothers before. So I thought I should review them!

The Packaging....

I'll describe my packet as they are slightly different packaging as to which favour you have. My favourite flavour is the Strawberry. So my packet contains 10 lozengers. It a shiny white paper packet with red strawberries on it and red writing telling me that the make is Halls and of course they are indeed soothers. The product weighs 45g and it tells me the best bedore date, ingredients and nutritional facts. The lozenger itself is in a whitish wrapper that peels off easily and my lozenger is a red colour.

The Taste....

I've noticed with all the flavours that they really do taste the way you would expect them to! They're yummy! Slightly sticky in texture at first but as you suck them that amost disapears immedietely. They take bout 8 minutes to dissolve, I only know this cos I just timed it as I'm writing this review!If you dont let it dissolve its got a good crunch and a liquid red centre and as you chew its gets sticky.

On the packaging it doesnt make any medical claims. In fact it makes no claims at all. I only know that this product is meant to soothe a sort throat and 'kiss it better' because of the adverts. On the packaging it says strawberry flavoured 'sweets' with liquid centres.

My Verdict....

Well for me, I've been struggling to breathe a bit and it hurts Quite a lot, made worse by a constant tickle. I cant cough as I've completely lost my voice tho I do have a lovely squeak lol
This sweet is not a miricle cure. It's instant tempory relief. The relief doesnt last long but then pop another one in lol
I do feel it layers my cough with syrup, if that makes sense and it calms it down. It does stop me feeling thirsty, freshners my mouth and gives a cold feeling down the back of my throat which is almost like an ansthetic feeling. What it helps me with the most is unblocking my nose and therefore letting me breath easier and thats because I can see on the list of ingredients that the sweet does contain Menthol and Eucalyptus oil. Also cotains 3% fruit juice per packet which is vitamin c also taken care of which helps to flight flu and colds!

Overall....

I love them. They are nice and gentle an not harsh. I'm already havin antibiotics and paracetamol, all I'm after is something to compliment that and treat the immedate symptoms. I do use Lockets and Halls but I find them so strong and they take my breath away! I just want something mild and that works. Also I dont want anything loaded with sugar and calories and these are not at 165 calories per pack and only a trace of fat I dont worry but having them!

All in all a great buy but do watch out they are highly addictive! I got mine for 50p for a packet and can be found in all good newsagents, supermarkets and chemists.
