With us now being on our way into winter it will soon be time for my colds and flu`s to start. I always get the flu a few times during winter but I am not one for getting the so called man flu, in fact I deal with colds and flu`s quite well. The only thing that really bothers me about getting the cold or the flu is the sore throats that go with them.

There are dozens upon dozens of medicines and throat lozenges on the market to deal with sore throats but how many of them really work? Well the Halls soothers throat sweets certainly do not work although they do taste nice.

They come in four different flavours, strawberry, cherry, blackcurrant and peach. I have tried the cherry and blackcurrant versions and as I say they taste nice but do nothing really to sooth the throat. I have continued to use them because they at least keep the throat moist and taste good but they have little or no soothing effect at all as far as I am concerned.

They are around 60p a packet so you would really expect more from them than you get, I feel that the hard candy shell does nothing but taste good and the liquid centre which tastes less nice does not really sooth either apart from the exact moment it slides over the throat making these a waste of money other than for their nice taste. Strepsils do a much better job but do not taste as good!

Summary: No good as a throat lozenge but nice as a sweet.
