Advantages: Nice tasting.

Disadvantages: They just dont do what they are supposed to.

At this time of year and in fact all year round really I have to put up with my husband getting the dreaded man flu. Whilst I deal with my colds or flu`s he lies on the couch claiming that his life is coming to an end and making ridiculous noises in an attempt to clear his sore throat.

I have tried all sorts of throat lozenges for hubby and indeed for myself but still find the only one that really does its job is Strepsils. I recently tried Halls soothers but although I enjoyed them as a sweet they did nothing at all for my throat and hubby agreed.

I bought two packets, one for me in my favourite flavour (strawberry) and one for hubby in a flavour he enjoys (cherry), I believe you can also get them in blackcurrant and another two flavours which I am unsure of. Having used the entire packet of strawberry ones and having tasted one of hubby`s cherry ones I can say that both these flavours were nice but equally I have to say that neither flavour did anything for my throat.

The liquid centre of the sweet gives a momentary relief to the throat as you swallow it but it is literally gone as soon as it goes down. I paid 58p per packet for my soothers and I believe that to be about average and although they were very nice to eat they are of virtually no use as a remedy for sore throats so I would have to recommend against using them for that reason!

Summary: Not recommended as a throat sweet but they do taste lovely.
