Advantages: Stops coughing, tastes nice, can take as many as needed

Disadvantages: E numbers, lots of sugar

Whenever I get a sore throat, I make sure Halls Soothers are part of the arsenal I use to tackle it. Unlike Strepsils, Halls Soothers do not contain antiseptic, and therefore you can happily suck away on them all day long. They are hard sweets with a gel like liquid centre. The centre is very soothing although the entire sweet is extremely sugary, and can't be good for your teeth!

My favourite flavour of these is the Peach and Raspberry. I think this is because the eucalyptus is very mild in this flavour, so they just taste like normal sweets. They even contain 3% real fruit juice, so I can almost kid myself they count towards my five a day!

The sweets contain sesame seeds and traces of nuts and soya, however are vegetarian suitable. They do however contain E numbers, so I wouldn't personally give them to children. They are made by Cadbury's, and have a satisfaction guarantee, that if you are not completely satisfied, they will give you a refund.

Summary: A Godsend when you feel poorly
