Advantages: Small enough to fit in pocket, flavour lasts for sometime afterwards

Halls soothers are designed to take the edge off a sore throat throughout a cold. The ones I am using at the moment are the blackcurrant flavour, packaged in a purple wrapper with Soothers in large letters across the front of the packet. The packaging itself is paper, along with the individual wrapper around each "soother". The packet also contains nutrition information, with each packet containing 165 calories and 41.1g of carbohydrates.

The product itself is a roll of 10 individually wrapped soothers, the blackcurrant being purple in colour and the strawberry ones red in colour. The outside of the soother is similar to an hard boiled sweet, so can be sucked for longer. Once the hardness has been softened there is a fruit juice liquid on the inside which I find if you aren't careful can disappear down the throat in one swallow, which is a disappointment. However the flavour compensates for that and stays in your mouth for a while after the soother has gone.

I paid 65p for the packet, which I find a bit on the high side, especially as I find I need more than one in a go to take the edge off. The size of the product is small enough to fit in the pocket, handy for being on the go.

I would recommend this product for usage at the first sign of a sore throat but believe that mid-cold it is of no use as it only contains sugars, acids and E numbers, which is of no benefit when overcoming the effect of a cold.
