I have a cold at the moment and one of my symptoms is a sore throat, so when I went to Tesco with my Dad I picked up a tube of these. I am going to be reviewing the 'peach and raspberry' flavour.

Halls Soothers come in a 45g paper tube, each tube containing ten sweets. Each sweet is separately wrapped in thin white paper with the Halls Soothers logo on it. I imagine this is to stop all the sweets sticking together. This is quite a good idea though I think it's a bit wasteful of paper.

Each sweet is a small oval shape. It is orange in colour and quite glossy. As soon as you put the sweet into your mouth, you are hit with the strong raspberry and peach taste. The flavour is quite overpowering at first and seems quite medicinal, however you do get used to it. You can either suck the sweet until the thick, hard shell has melted away or you can crunch straight into the melting, syrupy middle. I find that if you suck at it instead of biting straight into it, it soothes your throat better. The middle is sweet and quite delicious. If you are crunching into the middle, I find that the hard shell can get stuck in your teeth quite badly.

I found that the sweet DID soothe my throat, but not for long. It was hurting again in around an hours' time. I find that other sweets such as Strepsils work better for sore throats.

This single tube cost me around 60p (I don't know what I've done with my receipt so I can't tell you the exact amount!) and is available in multi-packs of 3 for around £1.30.

Per pack (10 sweets), you are consuming 165 calories. These sweets are suitable for vegetarians.

Overall the taste was nice enough, but they didn't soothe my sore throat for long!
