Advantages: Ease your sore throat
Disadvantages: none
Having a sore throat is no joke, it's either the horrible dry throat which feels like you are being strangled from the inside, or it's the harsh red raw sore throat where you can't swallow anything at all. Your throat is hot and feels like you have spikes in it, there's no relief and you just have to suffer untill it's gone away. Or so you thought. When my throat gets this bad I buy Halls Soothers, they won't miraculously make your sore throat disappear but they will ease the soreness to give you some relief. A packet of Halls Soother will cost you around 45p and for this you get 10 lozengers in a packet. These soothers come in three different flavours, cherry, blackcurrant and peach&raspberry. Each packet is a white foil wrapped one with the lozengers individually wrapped inside and a picture of whatever flavoured fruit you buy is on the front of the pack. They are made by Trebor who make other cough sweets and lozengers, as well as other sweets and candies. When you open the packet you will smell the lozengers which do smell of the flavour of your choice. The lozengers themselves are coloured to the individual flavour, the pack I have infront of me is cherry and the lozengers are a bright red colour. When you suck one of the lozengers you will be able to taste the flavour, unlike other cough or throat sweets these are not hot. They sooth like they say on the packet, you can taste a slight antiseptic taste but not that you'd be overpowered with it. Then in the center of each sweet is a fruit soft centre, this is great for when you get to the middle of the sweet. The soft liquid slides down your throat to really soothe away the roughness of your sore throat. it does ease the hurting away. Like on the advert it kisses your sore throat away. A gentle soother which is good and tasty, not hot and horrible but nice and fruity with a soft centre. I used to buy another brand which I
won't mention but are hot with a honey centre, but after trying these I have never bought the others since. My family always ask for these throat lozengers when they get a sore throat, I have become used to the brand and find that if you eat them for a couple of days on the trot, your throat will feel better sooner. I also like to have a packet of these handy when I have a sore throat, because I always wake up in the middle of the night feeling like I'm choking and can't swallow due to a really dry throat, sucking one of these gets rid of that horrible feeling quickly and I can then get back to sleep. I would recommend you tried these soothers if you haven't already as they do work if you use them for a couple of days. They aren't an instant cure but if you use them for a couple of days you'll notice a vast improvement in your sore throat. They are easy to carry around in your handbag and are cheap enough to afford.
