It’s just over a year since I took my younger dog, a Rhodesian Ridgeback by the name of Kia, to have her annual check-up at the vet’s. “Any problems?” he asked. “Well”, I said “it’s not so much a problem, more of an observation. When she jumps into the car I’ve noticed that she doesn’t put her back right leg down until after she’s landed. Sometimes when she’s running she misses a step on that leg.” A thorough examination, a week’s course of anti-inflamatories and an x-ray later we were told that she had hip dysplasia (a problem with the hip sockets) and arthritis in both hips.
