Advantages: quick results, great pain relief, not very sticky or smelly, NO TABLET

Disadvantages: a bit pricey

Where can I start??? I feel a bit strange writing an op on a pharmaceutical but I think that people should know there is something available to help.

I bought this product because I have a dodgy knee that dislocates every now and again and damages the muscles around the kneecap, sort of like a sprain. This causes it to swell up and become quite painful.

I was after a product that could reduce the swelling and perhaps take the edge off the pain, maybe make it possible to walk a bit sooner than if I did nothing (usually I am off my feet for a few days). My chemist suggested this product.

Ibuleve maximum strength is a slightly hazy, non-fragrant (it doesn’t stink everybody!!), non-stick gel that is applied directly to the painful area. It has 10% Ibuprofen, which is the same stuff a lot of people take orally for headaches etc. This works better than a tablet for this kind of pain, applying it locally means it takes effect almost immediately. You simply rub it in until it is absorbed (around 30 secs) and then about ten minutes later you should feel some relief.

I was most impressed because other products I HAVE used tend to smell a lot, and it puts you off using them. There were a few other variants of this same brand, ie a normal strength and a spray. I went for the max strength but could see myself getting the spray later to save my hands getting messy  Though it does wash off easily enuff under the tap.

The pharmacist said this is good for backpain, muscular pain, sprains (similar to what I get) and any arthritic pain. I can’t speak for all that lot, but I know it made my knee feel a whole lot better. It didn’t do a lot on the first application, but after that it made a difference I could feel. The box says to apply 3 times daily, which can be an annoyance, but it’s gotta beat the pain I was getting!!!

I bought it from boots for the princely sum of around £5.50 for a 30g tube,
which is a bargain in my books. While using it I didn’t take any tablet pain killers and invested my trust in this product and I would safely say it has paid off handsomely. I would recommend it to anyone who gets this type of pain, or amateur sports people to keep in their kitbag.

Sounds good. I use a smelly type of gel on my back, but it looks like this will have the same ingredients in. Thanks.

i'll make a note of this one. I put my back out a couple ofmonths ago, and with all the tablets the doctor gave me i was almost rattling!!! Cheaper than a presciption too.
