Im not a fan of asprin. My father has had a stomach ulcer and stomach lining inflammation from having to take a tablet every day. Ibuprofen is thought to be less harmful to the stomach than asprin if you keep to a low dose so I make sure theres always a box in the medicine cupboard. Ibuprofen is an NSAID (Nonsteriodal antinflammatory drug) and inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase and so stops the production of prostaglandins and therefore is anti-inflammatory, helps to reduce fever and reduces pain. It can be dangerous to use for some people. People who have had stomach ulcers, or have had their asthma get worse when using ibuprofen should not take ... Read the complete review

On 17th December last year I was up at the crack of dawn - 6am to be precise. You see, my brother was getting married that day. My day was planned. My partner was going to drop me round my sister's place at 8am for her to drive me to Essex where the wedding was taking place. At 7am I came running into the kitchen to get some warm water to take the ice off the car window. As I was running, I slipped and fell in my hallway, twisting my ankle in the process. I said or did nothing at the time as I was hoping the throbbing pain would go away. It didn't. All day I was limping around in absolute agony! My Nanny said I ought to visit the hospital when I get home (which seems ... Read the complete review

Right, I've torn myself away from my master's thesis just long enough to write this opinion. Please excuse me if I start wittering on in academic language (if this happens then I apologise in advance) but I have spent longer than I care to think about on it by now! Anyway, today's story is going to be about ibuprofen - but then you have probably already guessed this from the category its in. I was struggling a little bit for inspiration for my latest review, but thought if I have done one on aspirin, then why not this? As always, I hope this of use (and perhaps even interest) to all you nice people out there in dooyooland. ● So ... Read the complete review

Why shell out for Nurofen when you can buy the generic, Ibuprofen, for a fraction of the price and it does the job just as well? The price of Nurofen is inflated by it being a brand name in fancy packaging. Buy a shop’s own brand, in basic packaging, and you get the same medication with the same useful information sheet at an average price of around 99p (often cheaper) for 12 – 16 tablets. Ibuprofen is available in this form in most obvious shops – Boots, Superdrug, Tesco, Sainsburys, Numark and even Wilkos to name but a few! The active drug itself is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory useful for relief of headaches, migraine, dental ... Read the complete review

I don't take many medicines unless I feel I really need them. I'm not against the use of them I just feel that a lot of people use things particularly drugs i.e. painkillers too often and hence there effectiveness is affected. My painkiller of choice had always been paracetamol until this little gem of a pill came along. I found that Paracetamol left me feeling like I'd eaten half a ton of lead and tried to wash it down with 15 gallons of water. Ibuprofen was discovered by The Boots Group of companies and was first made available under prescription in the UK in 1969. Nowadays it is readily available just about everywhere in the 200mg dosage.
