Stops diarrhoea in its tracks (Imodium)

I had cause to buy some Imodium while on holiday in Bath a week or so ago... Lets just say that I think some prawns I had the day before may not have agreed with me!
For me, symptoms usually start with a lower stomach pain and a slight feeling of nausea. I headed back to the hotel with my very supportive friend (going via Boots for the Imodium) and installed myself in the bathroom! I know, it's not pretty!

Anyway, I got all the rubbish out of my system and immediately felt quite a bit better as the pain had then gone. I then took two Imodium capsules, which is what the packaging recommends once you've had your first bout of diarrhoea (they then say have another one for every subsequent bout).

So I took my 2 and we carried on with our afternoon, making sure I took it easy, although I must say I felt pretty much fine from then on. I made sure I had a pretty plain dinner, took another Imodium just before bed and the next morning I was all clear. :)

Usually I would always have Imodium with me on a trip away (definiately if going abroad), but I'd naively thought I'd be fine. I was only going to Bath for 3 nights! Anyway, it's taught me a valuable lesson, take Imodium with me for any night away from home! It's good stuff.

Scientific Bit:
Imodium essentially works by calming the stomach and gut and solidifying your stools, hence stopping the diarrhoea in its tracks.

Remember to drink lots during a bout though, as you can lose water very quickly, particularly if you've got a bad case and are just pooing water. That's never nice!
