Advantages: It works

Disadvantages: Its quite expensive

Well diarrhoea is never going to be a nice subject, is it? No but its one of those things that we all have to deal with occasionally. Personally its not something I have problems with alot. But when it happens I am a bit of a baby and really want something to make it better, and make it better quickly.

As a child my mom always kept kaolin and morphine in the house, it was an old remedy and it did help and certainly eased the pain. As an adult I followed her example until one day I got such a bad stomach upset I forced myself to discuss the problem with the pharmacist and he recommended Imodium. Heres the good bit, it works. Generally quite quickly, sometimes I need a second dose but generally just one dose does the trick.

It is basically a drug called Loperamide which acts to settle the intestines down, ease the pain and stop the diarrhoea. You take two capsules for your initial dose and then another one after any subsequent bouts. As I said the first dose normally does it for me.

It isn't particularly cheap, I paid just over £5 for my last packet, but to be honest when you need it you would pay alot more!

Summary: A God send when you need it

Each to there own, as I said in review I'm a bit of a baby when I have the problem so reach for the remedy I trust. Sometimes generic products do have subtle differences that make them more or less suited to the individual. I can't review the own brands as I haven't tried them so would be dishonest. Perhaps you could review one you use?

I take it that you are aware that the ingredients in shop brand Loperamide are identical in every way to Immodium?

The same can be said for Nurofen versus Ibuprofen and Lemsip versus store bought flue remedies. It is all an intelligent con by brand name pharmaceuticals convincing people that there is somehow something different in their drugs because they have a different name!

Anyhow rant over but as I say no experimentation is required.

Thats probably true dididave, problem is when you need it you don't feel like experimenting, well I don't anyway.
