Why Jakemans?
Quality product that are always in stock in my husbands car. Great price. Suitable for vegetarians. On this occasion I purchased because I had a cold which included blocked sinuses - I was not expecting these to clear the sinuses they were aimed more at soothing my throat....a surprise was in store.

Presentation...
Due to the fact that we always have plenty of Jakemans in the car I am aware that these sweets/lozengers are a product for easing the symptoms of a cold. We like to have them occasionally as a treat as we enjoy them. If I was seeing the pack for the first time I may have mistaken them for a packet of sweets. They are packaged in a quality plastic bag and have a lovely traditional design which states clearly all that you would want to know. I am impressed with the presentation.

Blackcurrant sweetie?
There is a good number of lozengers in the packet and for the price I think that they are a really good purchase. The sweets are wrapped individually in clear wrap which are easy to undo - I appreciate this attention to detail as it ensures that the sweets are free from contamination of germs and also I can grab a couple and put them into my bag or pocket without them sticking the material up.

Surprise surprise...
When I treated myself to a sweet it was in order to address my tender throat and sample the new flavour of blackcurrant. The sweet is a good size - similar to a locket - and is a boiled sweet which remains hard all the way through. I am not really a fan of soft centred medicated sweets so this suits me very well.

The blackcurrant flavour was detected straight away and though it does not dominate the experience it is well balanced with the menthol that releases a vapour within the oral cavity. This is a really pleasant tasting sweet and may have just knocked my favourite Jakemans Menthol of it's top spot!

To my surprise after sucking this modest sweet for a few minutes I noticed that my sinuses where clearing and that I could now breath through my nose! This was a very impressive achievement as I had tried all manner of remedies for my sinuses and none had been so effective and certainly not as promptly. The sinuses remained clear for the duration of me consuming the sweet - lasting about six minutes on average - and for a good hour or so afterwards!

I was not continually aware of the menthol vapours and it certainly was not unpleasant or overpowering - that was why I was so surprised that the sinus issue resolved for a good duration of time. The unassuming sweets are pretty damn good!

I am aware of the menthol taste for some time afterwards but it doesn't prevent me from enjoying a meal if I eat an hour or so later - this is my experience with most cough and cold sweets. As they are quite a large sweet I am careful not to be exerting myself in any way when eating as they can be slippery in the mouth and easily swallowed.

I consume about three sweets in a day and the pack lasts about four days - generally there are approximately fifteen sweets in the bag.

A final thought....
I am so very happy that I discovered this flavour of Jakemans - they seem to be even more effective than the original black menthol ones for me and the lovely flavour takes them to the top of my list for Jakemans sweets.

A treat as well as effective for clearing my very blocked sinuses and providing and impressive lasting relief of a couple of hours at least - I'm very happy. Great value for money and high quality packaging with each sweet having it's own wrapper - I like that individual attention to detail.

Sinuses clear, throat very happy - makes Dawn a smiley girl. I can recommend these highly.
