Jungle formula wipes

When we were in Egypt for a recent holiday, there were quite alot of mosqitos. Having realised that this would probably be the case, I stocked up on mosquito repellent lotions and potions and these were one of the products.

WHAT ARE THEY?

These wipes promise to repel mosqitoes midges and other biting insects for up to 6 hours.

They have apparently been approved by the hospital for tropical Diseases for use in countries where there is no known risk of malaria or other insect transmitted diseases. They won't protect against these diseases so for anyone travelling where there is a risk, the extra strength wipes should be used.

PRODUCT AND PACKAGING...

The wipes themselves come in a box which is the usual Jungle Formula green colour and it has all of the instructions for use on the back of the box. Inside the box there are 15 individually wrapped wipes. These wipes are slightly smaller than I would expect a baby wipe to be and they have a kind of porous surface . This porous surface makes them more wet than they would be if they were a "normal" wipe, presumably so that they can be used in such a way that plenty of the lotion is applied to the skin; if they were too dry then clearly there wouldn't be enough of the repellent getting on to the skin.

The wipes do smell slightly antiseptic and definitely a bit medicinal presumably the stuff which will deter the bugs, but it's not too strong a smell and definitely not enough to make me not want to use them.

They do easily apply a good covering of the lotion and whilst they look small, one wipe does alot of exposed bit, and the lotion washes off easily and leaves no sticky residue.

HOW TO USE THEM...

These can be used on adults and on children from the age of 3 years. The wipes should be wiped gently over all exposed parts of the body except the eyes and lips.

The formula should be reapplied regularly and as necessary depending on the weather conditions.

WARNINGS...

As with most products these wipes come with some warnings including:

* External use only
* Harmful if swallowed
* Avoid contact with eyes mouth and broken skin
* If a reaction occurs then discontinue use
PRICE AND AVAILABILITY...

The wipes are readily available from supermarkets and chemists and cost around £4.30 for 15 of the wipes

MADE BY...

Chetaro UK Ltd., Cambs.

VERDICT

These are easy to apply and really do seem to give up to 6 hours of protection. I found that a couple of wipes each was enough for a good covering of the repellent on exposed bits but i suppose it depends on how maky exposed bits there are!

It leaves no sticky residue and offered all of use including Little Miss good protection with no adverse reactions.

One of the things I liked about them is the fact that they are easy to carry in a bag or in pockets so if we found ourselves out longer than expected then it was easy to apply further protection without having to carry an aerosol can with us.

A recommended product.

Thanks for reading.

I find these were good when I travelled around the African - useless in South and Central America - use the local stuff "OFF"!

Good review. Ive only ever seen the other product of the one you reviewed previously; I use pound shop insect wipes; Ive never seen any other product at my pharmacy/chemist which is a insect repellent wipe which is mad in the west of Scotland given the midges!

Good review, I can never decide which ones to use but now thanks to dooyoo and reviews like yours I have a better idea of which work.
