Advantages: All natural

Disadvantages: Didn't work for me

I was feeling a bit down recently and was getting stressed with my children and husband and felt bad about snapping at them. I decided that I needed to do something so I could enjoy my time with them.

Having spoken to my Health Visitor she advised me I was not likely to be suffering depression severe enough for medication, which to be honest I really didn't want to take anyway, instead she suggested changing my routine.

Pffffa I thought! I need something natural and went to Asda to buy these natural happy pills. At £5.99 for 200 I was praying for them to work. Take 2 pills 3 times a day, so basically meal times.

They do warn in the booklet that comes with the tablets that they can take up to a week to work so I started right away. The only problem is, with 2 small children it's sometimes difficult enough to remember to eat 3 meals let alone tablets with them. I would say for the first 3 weeks I managed to take almost all pills in correct sequence, but didn't really feel any effect from them. I was still shouting at the kids, getting irritated with hubby etc. So I thought what is the point about worrying to take them 3 times a day, so it was then that I started taking them on average twice a day and then gave up completely.

For me I don't feel that they made any difference, but I was feeling probably more depressed than anxious, so maybe they would work if it was a specific stress or anxiety you had rather than a general bad temper or depression. Just to assure you, I have now calmed down a lot, my oldest started nursery so 2 and half hours of not being asked questions seemed to be the answer, not natural plant extracts!

Ingredients: Hops powder, Valerian, Gentian and Sucrose.

You can buy these in pots of 100 or 200, as mentioned above £5.99 is the price of 200 from Asda, but Wilkinsons sold 200 for £3.99 (finding this out didn't help the stress levels!). They are all natural and suitable for anyone over 12, but not the pregnant or breast feeding.

Summary: They seem to work for most people, so give them a go if you feel you need something.
