Advantages: Cheap and quick to kick in
Disadvantages: Sometimes they don't work, wear off fast
I tried kalms about a year ago because I was going through a very stressful time which was preventing me from being able to sleep properly at night. I needed to be able to get a good nights sleep so that I could get on with my daily life, this meant that I needed to relax a bit more.
I went searching on the internet for something that could help and came across a page about these, it said that they were a good way of taking the edge off of your stress. I found out a little more about them and decided to buy some because they are completely natural, no nasty drugs so they're not harmful to your body and they are not at all addictive. The only things they contain are:
Hops Powder 45mg, Extract of Valerian from 135mg, Extract of Gentian from 90mg
I bought a bottle of 100 tablets from Tesco for just £1.84 which I think is quite cheap for such a well known brand. You can find them for a similar price in most shops as they are very popular. Or you can buy a bottle of 200 tablets for about £3.
The instructions say that they are to promote a natural sleep and that they do this by relieving your stress to help you fall asleep. You should take two tablets three times a day after meals.
The tablets are really easy to swallow with water as they are round and smooth, they don't tend to leave a taste in your mouth if you swallow them quick enough, even if you don't then the taste is just sweet not of anything unpleasant.
The effect is quite fast and I found that seeing as I had been too irritable & stressed to sleep properly for a few days, as soon as I took these I felt tired. After one good nights sleep I decided to keep taking them and I found that they did make me feel a bit calmer, the effect wears off after a few hours, that why you have to take them three times a day, they are especially effective if you take them about an hour and a half before bed as they calm you down within that time so you're ready to sleep.
I haven't found any side effects with them either and they aren't at all addictive to me so it's easy to stop taking them if you want to. You should stop taking them if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as they are not suitable for children under 12 years old. If you do experience any side effects then make sure you go and see your doctor, most people don't get any though.
They come in a brown bottle with a white screw on top and a label explaining all the basic information. Then the bottle is placed in a box which is blue and again contains all the basic info. In case you need somewhere else to read the information about bit they also include a handy leaflet with everything you could possibly need to know about kalms.
I found that these were a really effective way of relieving stress and irritability. They have worked for me, unfortunately sometimes not as well as I'd like and I've still had a few sleepless nights whilst taking them but overall I think that they work very well and would recommend them to anybody who needs some help getting rid of stress.
Summary: Good for when you have too much stress
