Advantages: none
Disadvantages: taste nasty, not effective for me
I think most of us suffer from stress at some time or another & my philosophy in life is not to put up with things unnecessarily - eg if I have the occasional headache I take a painkiller etc.
I saw these Kalms in Qualitysave for £5.99 for 200 & they seemed worth a try as they are promoted as being 'a traditional natural plant remedy' which 'relieves periods of worry, irritablity , stresses & strains' - great I thought!
I must point out at here that I don't suffer from depression & I'd class the temporary stress & worry I'm experiencing now as minor on a scale from 1-10 so have no need to see my GP.
The box is as shown in the photo & when opened there's a fairly heavy glass jar with a peel-off plastic rim, a screw-on/off cap & the white tablets are protected with a circle of removable foam .
The first thing that hit me was the smell - it's awful - so be prepared if you're going to try them as they taste terrible & leave an aftertaste.
the information on the label tells me the following -
- not for children under 12 (12?!!)
- take 2 after meals with water 3 times a day.
- don't take if you're allergic to any of the ingredients.
- don't take if pregnant or breastfeeding.
The ingredients include the following -
- hops powder bhp - 45mg
- extract of valerian -135mg
- extract of gentian - 90mg
- also contains sucrose.
I took the tablets according to the advice given & despite the taste & waited to be 'calmed & relaxed'...
I waited & waited but nothing happened - I still felt stressed & anxious & all I experienced was wind!
I tried them for a few days but they still had no effect apart from a bad taste in my mouth & the continuing wind - so they're sitting in my medicine cabinet & there they'll stay I expect. I'll return to my herbal teas instead as they taste better than Kalms.
I must say though that they MUST work for some people otherwise they wouldn't still be on sale now would they?
Maybe it's just me they don't work for but I'm giving you my honest opinion here.
summary
~
- look good but didn't work for me.
- clear directions on how to use.
- natural ingredients.
- taste nasty.
- gave me wind.
- BUT may work well for others?
Summary: may Kalm some folk down but not me

- 26/04/09 Always sceptical about these products but suppose you don't know 'til you try them, least they could do is make them taste reasonable though! |

- 26/04/09 They don't work for me either, although one of my friends swears by them! x |

- 26/04/09 Is it just me or is there not something funny about a product called Kalms that gives you wind?? :) |
