Advantages: Strong tissues that won't hurt your skin
Disadvantages: Slightly dearer than comparable products
This review is of the multipack of six pocket-sized packs of tissues that is widely available from all the usual national retailers. Mine were bought at a city centre Sainsburys.
Like so many other poor people at this time of year, I'm suffering from a very runny nose (pantomime awwww!) and needed something to help me out in my time of need. Being a thrifty Scot, I automatically sought out the finest, cheapest tissues that I could find. Luckily for me these were the best choice and while the price isn't particularly relevant, they were roughly £0.20 cheaper than a big box of tissues. Purchasing these in a multipack of smaller packs isn't the most economical way to buy them, but they are very useful for commuting (I've currently got them in two different coats and rucksacks and beside my bed to boot). I'm also working on the optimistic premise that my cold will be gone within a week and that the 60 or so tissues provided will prove sufficient.
The tissues measure 21*21 cm and without meaning to be too graphic, they are suitable for approximately three blows of a runny nose before being disposed of. Those with petite hooters may manage more, but three has been my limit to date. The paper is appropriately strong and you will not find yourself blowing right through them as is the case with budget tissues or toilet roll.
One of the main selling point of these is the fact that they are impregnated with a protective balm. They don't smell strongly enough for any scent to make it through my blocked nasal packages, but I am pleased to report a nose free of inflammation and cracking after three days of continuous use. For that reason, these would be ideally suited to someone who doesn't want their cold to detract from their appearance. I'm not so bothered about this myself, but it is worth mentioning.
In case anyone suffers allergies, these are treated with:
Parrafinum liquidum
Ceresin
Stearyl alcohol
Isopropyl palmitate
Dimethicone
Calendula officinalis
I will make sure to edit this review with plain English versions of these 'ingedients' once I can check them at home.
As with almost all paper products, these sport the recyclable logo on the side. I'm not entirely sure, however, of the ethics of recycling snotty hankies (after all, your binman won't thank you for catching your cold). I'll not be recycling personally, as I'm confident that these will biodegrade fairly quickly in a landfill site anyway!
Summary: Strong soft tissues that care for your skin
