Advantages: So soft and gentle of the Snezbit

Disadvantages: The price at times

When I have a cold there are a few things that I reach for immediately. Ibuprofen, fruit juices, the duvet and my beloved Balsam tissues! I'm not great when i'm poorly, i'm afraid that when I get a cold it's actually man flu (although i'm female!) and I need my essentials to keep me from being a completely grumpy mum & wife!

I'm not quite sure when I discovered Balsam tissues but I won't go without them when i'm wiping or blowing my nose every second for three days running (no pun intended).

They can be quite pricey at around the £2.70 mark for a box of 90 standard sized tissues so I always buy them when they are on offer and stock up throughout the year ready for the lastest winter flu bug. Asda recently had twin packs for £2 which is an absolute steal.

What the box says - they leave behind a microfine film of protective balm containing calendula which helps prevent the skin from drying out and the nose getting red. Can't say that i've ever noticed a 'film' being left on my nose but they are extremley soft and although I end up with a bit of a red nose it's no where near the bright red and peeling nose that I had before I found Balsam! They don't really have a smell but they are just sooo soft and gentle. The tissues themselves are quite strong so withstand a hurricane of a nose blow.

The box is a standard tissue box size and the tissues measure 21 x 20cm. I really should buy the man size balsam tissues but they never seem to be on offer. It is a blue, green & yellow box with a tear off lid that reveals a soft plastic inner that allows you to take one tissue at a time rather than pulling one and getting a fist full.

Before I found Balsam a number of years ago I would buy regular tissues and end up with a severly red, peeling, cracked and very sore nose. I'm the sort of person that is always wiping and blowing at the first sign of a snuffle so there is no wonder that I ended up looking like Rudolph in Antartica! Since Balsam, my nose does get slightly red but it doesn't crack or peel anymore and isn't painful to touch.

I love Balsam tissues, they really are worth the money (even at full price) as they are so gentle to your skin. I won't be without them now.

Summary: Never will I be without them again!

I agree with you about these. I actually think there aren't any other tissues worth having when you have a heavy cold..... although, boots also do a 'balsam' version which are quite good

You're right, they ARE essential when you have a cold - although a strong anti-histemine tablet does the world of good too! :)
