Advantages: Soft, strong, moisturising without stickiness, no soreness or redness.
Disadvantages: Pricey.
Kleenex Balsam tissues come in boxes of 90, twin packs of 180 and pocket packs (9 per packet). The packaging is in a blue, green and yellow colour scheme with the trademark logo of Kleenex and the word balsam printed on the top. It is currently on offer in Tesco for £2.78 per twinpack which runs until 24/11/2009.
These are strong three-ply tissues that are impregnated with a balm containing calendula and liquid paraffin designed to leave a microfine layer on the skin after wiping and blowing. This is meant to help prevent redness and irritation from over-use. Oh, and of course that softness that you expect from Kleenex too.
My family is very prone to allergies - especially dust and hayfever, this means that we very often have runny noses. This in turn means a lot of nose-blowing and wiping and in the winter our home can be a sea of red noses! This gets extremely sore. Toilet roll and economy tissues just aggravate it further and in the past it would leave us no choice but to use some Vaseline to help it heal. Since Kleenex brought out "Balsam" it has helped prevent our noses getting sore without the stickiness of Vaseline and now we always have a big supply of them in the cupboards.
Balsam tissues are slightly more expensive than other brands, but I take my family's and my own health seriously enough to pay the extra for a good quality product. I am grateful they are on the market.
Summary: They work!

- 04/11/09 I've used pretty much every version of Kleenex tissues - I'm not sure these are any softer than the 'normal' versions, but I too find the Balsam helps. |
