Advantages: Kind and gentle on sore noses, balsam really helps ease stuffiness, nice thickness
Disadvantages: Can be a bit pricey depending where you purchase
The other week I had come down with the most horrendous cold and was feeling a bit sorry for myself, my nose was stuffed up and my throat was red raw but my mum being the lovely person she is went out and brought me back some supplies to ease my symptoms, this included a magazine to take my mind off things, a bottle of orange juice, some blackcurrant tunes and a box of kleenex with balsam. Kleenex is a well known brand and whilst I had previously tried their regular tissues before I hadn't had any experiences with the balsam variety so was quite keen to try them out. My nose had reached the awkward stage where one minute it was bunged up so much I could barely even breathe through it, the next it would be streaming in torrents.
The tissues come in a cardboard box with the kleenex logo displayed clearly, on reaching in and bringing out a tissue the balsam smell is quite strong and I noticed it even despite my stuffy nose, the tissues are white in colour and very soft to the touch; they're also of a reasonable thickness and not one of those flimsy kinds that you end up tearing or putting your finger through. When used to blow my nose I found the balsam really helped, acting almost in the same way as a vicks vapor inhaler and my congestion was eased as the balsam helped to really open up my nasal passages. The tissues are kind and gentle on an already sore nose and they are also very absorbent so you can have a good old blow. Kleenex isn't a cheap brand and I've seen the boxes range in price from anything from £1.50 to more than £3.00 but you are paying for quality and you'll actually need less tissues than you would if you were using a value brand so a box should last you a reasonable amount of time.
