Kleenex Balsam Tissues
Advantages: Soft, luxurious, stops red noses
Disadvantages: Pricey at full price
I tend not to spend a lot on tissues given that they get put straight in the bin once used, however, I don't tend to purchase the cheapest tissues on the market either, and go for something in the middle bracket, however, a while ago Tesco had an offer on their Kleenex balsam tissues and I thought for the price I paid at the time, it was a good deal for a better quality tissue. Prices vary, but a box of these tissues is currently on offer buy one get one free in Boots £2.50.
These Balsam tissues are dermatologically tested tissues that supposedly leave a 'micro fine layer of protective balm on the skin'. Each tissue contains calendula which is designed to soothe the nose and protect the skin around it from becoming red or broken.
Kleenex Balsam tissues have recently launched a new slimline box for these tissues and I have to say it is a great size as it fits easily into part of my sideboard so the tissues are discrete but easy to get at.
The timing of me starting to use these tissues couldn't have been better because my nose had started running the day I opened these to replace my traditional tissues which I had finished. The difference in simply the thickness and softness of the two tissues was unmistakable and I was so glad that I was using the nice thick tissue on my runny nose. My runny nose was the start of a week long cold and there was a definite comfort and soothing quality about these tissues when I went to blow my nose. Other tissues would easily fall apart after a good blow of the nose, but there wasn't a hint of this with one. By the end of the week with a cold and a good chunk of the tissue box gone, my nose wasn't red in the slightest nor showed any sign of drying out or flaking of the skin around it.
I keep a plain pack of tissues at work and so when I used this type again, it made me realise just how much I had got used to the lovely soft balsam tissues. However, unless these tissues are on offer, I doubt I could justify spending the extra unless I had a bad cold. Middle of the road tissues are ideal for everyday use, but there really is a difference and when you have a cold, that little bit of quality and luxury that comes with these tissues is worth paying for, and no one likes to have a red nose with skin flaking off around the edges, and these tissues work at preventing this!
Summary: Great tissues for those with bad colds
