Advantages: Absorbent, 3-ply, Biger than average tissues
Disadvantages: A little expensive
It wasn't really my fault. Honest! It was more a bizarre coincidence of events, although admittedly it did lead to one shocked little girl, one hospital admission and the demolition of very expensive looking statue! I really am very sorry that I was the cause of all this, and everyone was really nice about it. But it all happened because I wasn't carrying a tissue! It all started when I was queuing to get my room key on a recent weekend away. I'm unfortunate enough to suffer from a dust allergy, and little things like perfume or someone smoking can set me off sneezing. Well, I think someone must have walked past who had been a bit liberal with their Chanel No. 5 and I could feel that tell-tale tickle begin in my nostril, foretelling me of an impending sneeze. It all happened very quickly and I didn't have any tissues on me. The last time I looked no-one was in the queue behind me, so rather than sneezing over the people ahead of me, I turned around and sneezed towards the floor behind me. Ordinarily this wouldn't have been a problem, at most there would have been a light spray exiting my mouth, drifting away gently in the breeze. But not today! I'd had a little bit of a cough and snuffle for the previous few days, and despite putting my hand around my mouth when I sneezed, a little bit of, ermmmm, how can i put this, greeny! escaped my mouth. It flew towards the floor behind me, landing about 4 inches from the feet of a little girl who had appeared from nowhere. Time seemed to stand still for a few seconds. She looked at me with a shocked expression, I looked at her in horror, then it all happened. She started screaming and turned round and ran across the foyer. I might have got away with it if she hadn?t run straight into a passing waiter who was carrying a rather impressive looking tray of food. For a little girl she had picked up quite a bit of momentum and knocked this poor chap
flying, right into a statue mounted on a pedestal towards the edge of the foyer. The statue was obviously not glued onto the pedestal, and went tumbling to the floor, along with the waiter and all this food. I stood their, shocked! After the dust had settled, we were left with one shocked but otherwise uninjured little girl, an equally shocked and surprisingly understanding waiter who suffered a broken wrist, a wrecked meal (there was no way of salvaging it from the floor and curtains!) and a statue in a few more pieces than it had been when I first walked in. Whoops! I was mortified and extremely apologetic, as it was me that set this chain of events in motion. The staff and the family of the little girl were very understanding, telling me it wasn't my fault and it could have happened to anybody, and after a few brandies I managed to calm down and stop feeling quite so guilty. And the moral of this story, after all this is supposed to be a product review! Well, never go anywhere, and I mean ANYWHERE without a good supply of tissues, stored where they are easily accessible. I now never leave home without a pocket stuffed full of tissues. Now there are loads of tissues to choose from, so which one is best? As I tend to do a lot of sneezing, I need a tissue that doesn't irritate me and also one that is able to absorb the assorted gunk that tends to come out of my nose (nice thought eh!) I usually use Kleenex for Men tissues, for a number of reasons. 1. The are larger than normal tissues, which as well as taking a lot of gunk, will cover my face when I sneeze hopefully preventing a recurrence of the incident mentioned above! 2. They are 3 ply tissues, so are quite strong and not going to disintegrate when wet (not with rain!) 3. They are quite soft, and as I go through a lot of tissues they do not irritate my poor little sensitive nose. I don?t buy those
little packets of tissues, as I can never get the packet out of my pocket and a tissue out of the packet before I sneeze! Kleenex for Men tissues were first sold in 1957, so they?ve been around a few more years than I have! They come in boxes of 90, which keep me going for about a week (I told you, I sneeze a lot!). They cost about £1.69 a box, but you can get them in double packs costing £2.99. They are also on special offer at places like Boots quite often, so if you shop around you can usually find them cheaper. So there you have it, I know the story is a lot longer than the actual product review, but I thought it was important to let you know the reason why you should never, EVER leave home without a pocket full of tissues!
