Finally something that isn't lemon!

Advantages: Works for a while
Disadvantages: Effects don't last that long
A couple of weeks ago, I was quite ill and had a really bad cold to go with it. I don't normally take anything at all while I'm ill but I could barely get out of bed and I only had a couple of days to get better before having to go back to work. Because of this, I decided it was time to get something to ease my symptoms and at least make me feel well enough to go to work and not just sleep all day.
After heading to my local pharmacy, around the corner from my house, I picked up a packet of blackcurrant lemsip. For just under £5 I got 10 sachets although the price will vary depending on where you shop. I didn't really care what I paid as long as it made me feel better. The sachets come in a green and red box with the lemsip logo on the front. The box also explains that these can be used to relieve symptoms of Headaches, fever, blocked noses, body aches and pains and sore throats. It also states that this contains Paracetamol. Also on the box is a purple steaming cup which indicates the blackcurrant flavour.
You can take one sachet every 4 hours and this dose is for adults and children over 12. In order to use it all you need to do is boil some water and mix them together in a mug. The power dissolves really easily so you only need to stir it a couple of times. I can't drink anything too hot though so I had to leave mine to cool down a little bit first.
As soon as you add the water to the powder, you can instantly smell the blackcurrant which was a nice, especially as I had a blocked nose. The taste is quite sweet but not medicinal so it is really easy to drink. It didn't take long for the effects of this to kick in either. My head was feeling much better and I certainly didn't ache as much. However, I didn't feel much improvement with my blocked nose but I didn't understand how it would help that anyway. The good thing about lemsip is that it didn't make me drowsy and want to fall asleep again.
While this is a good product to relieve symptoms, it doesn't last that long. Each sachet only made me feel better for about an hour and as you can only have one every 4 hours, that isn't very good. Still, they did make me feel better for a bit so I would still probably buy them again.
Summary: Ok relief for when you're ill
