Advantages: Quite nice tasting, helps headaches and soothes chest
Disadvantages: The decongestant could be better
I don't think Lemsips are the most potent form of cold fighting remedy but they are nice and comforting and warming when you are feeling sorry for yourself.
I quite like the lemon ones but for me the blackcurrent ones are just slightly nicer tasting as they are just a little bit less bitter and more palatable.
The Max strength ones contain both paracetamol and a decongestant to help soothe and treat colds and flus. They come in powder form and you just empty a sachet in to a cup and then add boiling water to it and drink it.
The fact that it comes as a hot drink is immediately comforting and I always feel this helps sooth my chest and throat straight away before the ingredients in it have even started getting to work.
These always help to clear my head from that foggy feeling you get when you have a cold and they also do a good job of soothing my chest when it is sore. The decongestant in them works ok but there are other things which work better as a decongestant but they do make me feel better when I have drunk them even and if they don't take away all the symptoms they do help to lessen them so that I just don't feel so bad and can get on with things.
I tend to only drink them at night as they are too much of a hassle to be making during the day when I am at work or even on days off when I have shopping to do and kids to drop off places. I usually use a liquid or pill cold remedy then but at night I actually look forward to having one of these as I really do find them soothing.
The blackcurrent flavour in them is actually quite nice. It isn't too natural tasting but it does help to lessen the bitterness of the paracetamol and is sweet enough that it is quite nice to drink.
These are always a good thing to have in the house just in case and you can pick up a box of 10 sachets quite cheaply at about £3.50.
Summary: Tastier than the lemon ones
