When I've got a cold I generally always reach for the Lemsip, a tried, tested and positive results brand. Lemsip is a well-know brand of cold and flu remedies. I never realised but the reason it is called Lemsip is because their original product, the flavoured hot-drink was Lemon is flavour and you sip a drink, hence LEMsip! Lemsip is manufactured by Reckitt Benckiser.

The drink always works well for me but sometimes it isn't convenient to always have a hot drink, especially if you are at work or away from the house but still feel the need for some cold medicine. Also, it's quite time consuming to make a drink and then have to drink all of it, especially if you just want to sleep all the time.

This is how I found the new Lemsip Max Cold and Flu direct lemon sachets. Lemonsip Max contains more paracetamol than the regular Lemsip, 1000mg, compared to 650g and it has more phenylephrine hydrochloride which is a decongestant.

The lemon sachets contain a powder that you pour directly onto your tongue and it then dissolves in your mouth. It's great because you don't need to take this product with water, you just open the sachet and take it. It's perfect cold relief when you are on the go. The powder is kind of like a sherbet dip powdered sweet, it taste like lemon and is quite sweet and actually not too bad to taste. One word of warning though, I find it's better to pour the sachet out into your hand first and then take a little bit at a time because if you put it all into your mouth it gets a little bit dusty and some of the powder makes you cough or choke which is not fun!!

The paracetamol acts as an analgesic and antipyretic which helps to relieve headaches, sore throats, fever, body aches and pains and the decongestant effect of the paracetamol helps to unblock your nose. I find this product does work although with all cold and flu remedies sometimes I think they just relieve the symptoms for a while but don't cure the cold completely but a little bit is better than nothing.

The box is the same green colour as all Lemsip products but features a picture of a face on it with the person swallowing the sachet and showing you how to use the medicine which I think is good. It actually says on the box that there is no need for water and that is dissolves on your tongue. It also shows that it contains paracetamol which I think is good as I know some people are not able to take this medicine so it is clearly marked for that purpose. The dosage facts are on the back. Adults should take one sachet every 4 hours and not exceed four doses in 24 hours. With every medicine though I recommend if you are unsure about whether to take it or not consult with your doctor first as I am not a doctor and cannot say whether it is good for you or not, this is just my findings of the product.

The box comes with 10 sachets in it and costs about £4 if I can remember correctly.
