Advantages: It works for me

Disadvantages: None

Every year coming winter I am bound to have at least a couple of bad cold and I fight off at least 2-3 more. This is due in part to my job, which brings me to travel around the globe and when I travel on business I never know what the weather will be at my destination, plus on my return in London, if I come from a warmer country during European winter I seem to suffer a lot. By the time I land and I arrive at home, many times I already feel I need a Lemsip.

So,as a result, I always have in my travel bag few lemsips.

Lemsip is basically paracetamol, phenylephrine hydrochloride and vitamin c. The decongestionant is the hydrochloride 12.2 mg and because of the content of paracetamol you should not take other tablets with paracetamol.

On the lemsip I have at home it says that in case you wish to know more you can contact

I normally have Lemsip and some tablets I buy in Bulgaria, which are very good too. The problem with Lemsip is that you need to pour the powder (since Lemsip basically come in 10 sachets) into boiling water. I have the luxury of a kettle at home and also in the office, so when I am London I am 99% of the time less than 1 hour away from boling water since I do not go out too often and my life revolves around the office and my home.

When I am travelling, as far as I am in a Hotel, I am fine, most hotels I stay at have a kettle and in those who do not, I was never refused a mug of hot water from the bar when I humbly showed them my Lemsip sachet. If I need a sachet during the day and I am visiting clients, I normally go to a bar, offer to pay for a tea, without the bag and pour the sachet into hot water.

Ok, now, you are wondeirng, does it work? Yes, I believe so. I became very good at spotting a cold as soon as it attacks me and I may overdo a bit on the Lemsips, but I am sure that they help. Some time I manage to fend off a cold with a couple of Lemsip and the Bulgarian tablets.

If the cold was more clever than me, then I may need to wait a couple of days. I never take more than 4-5 Lemsips in a day.I feel that when the cold is really bad I need one every 4-6 hours.

Although they recommend Lemsip for headache, flue, sore throat, body aches, and pains in general, I think that the real benefit lies in reducing the symptoms of sore throat and flue in general.

I have not bought them for a while, but I think they are less than a fiver for 2 boxes with 10 sachets at Boots. I normally get them at Boots at Heathrow, so they may be a tad more expensive on the high street.
