Lemsips Map Cold and Flu

Last week I had a cold/flu. I was pretty sure that it wasn't swine flu and decided to make the trek to work. I think in hind sight I should have just taken it off. Getting to work was fine the only difficulty I had was when I actually sat down to do some work. I found it really hard to do and struggled to concentrate or get focused. I needed some sort of help and other people had recommend Lemsips so I decided to give them a try.

What are Lemsips?

Lemsips are a brand of cold and flu remedy drinks. They are best known for their lemon variety of hot drink but they are also available in blackcurrant, lemon and menthol and apparently wild berry and hot orange although I have never seen this flavour. They are supposed to help reduce the effects of cold and flu which include helping with runny noses, aches and pains and headaches.


Price

I picked up a ten pack of Lemsips in Tesco for £2.99. They are also sold in chemists and some garages and perhaps if you shop around you may get a better price.

My opinion

I remember trying to take these years ago when I was still at school and finding them truly awful so I wasn't looking forward to trying them again. The drink is made by applying the sachet of yellow powder to hot water. The water should be stirred until the powder dissolves and then the drink is ready.

The smell of lemon is very strong with this drink. If you like lemons its ok and I found it smelt fresh or clean. My earlier memories of the drink were unfounded and I actually found the drink to be very tolerable. Not so much so that I would drink it if I didn't have to but it certainly wasn't that bad.

As for cold relief I believe that this drink really helped. It definitely perked me up enough to do some work and when I had some before going to bed I got a much better sleep that the night when I didn't have any. Overall I would definitely recommend this product and I will be keeping some in my medicine drawer for the next time I get a cold.
