Advantages: various flavours available for this wonder cure for colds
Disadvantages: none
This is a marvellous cure for colds and flu. It is not a complete do it all wonder cure but does ease the symptoms of the dreaded cold or flu. The simple sachets come in a box usually containing 5 or 10 sachets in each box depending on which size you go for. I usually go for the larger as you will definitely need more than five.
The sachet is emptied into a cup and boiled water is poured onto it releasing its healing power and smell of lemons and or if you buy the ones with eucaliptus in them it will release this as well.
I do not like the eucaliptus ones so I usually just go for the lemsip plus variety which contain paracetamol. I find it helps more. But the eucaliptus can help you too with breathing problems so it is down to choice in the end.
My choice the lemon ones can be a bit sour tasting and I find a spoon of sugar helps get them to go down better. But that is just a preferred thing.
I definitely taste the lemon which is very sharp and there is a taste which reminds me of the aftertaste of paracetamol which is also a little bitter. But it does work and if you can get past the bitter taste it is quite good.
I find if you can arrest the cold or flu early enough with these sachets then I can get rid of the symptoms in a day or two.
Which is really helpful.
You can also get lemsip in a capsule form and these come in packs of 16 capsules. Easy to swallow plastic bombs with a little water are just as fast acting as the sachets.
The taste is lemon or blackcurrant or eucaliptus any will do the job and they all taste reasonable but I prefer the original Lemon variety.
Each tastes of the flavour stated and is quite sour.
But this can be combated with a spoon of sugar.
prices vary from around £2 - £3 for the smaller packs and £3 - £5 for the larger much bigger packs. It does pay to shop around for them as various shops and chemists price them accordingly.
Always keep some ready in our cabinet as we always have someone with a cold at some point and the shelf life is quite a long one. But saying this do keep checking for the sell buy date and do not use if it is out of date.
keep cold free
Summary: good idea for the cold cabinet

HelenW - 18/06/08 I can't even stand the smell of the lemon ones, so I get the blackcurrent flavour and then add extra blackcurrent squash and then it's not too bad! |
