Advantages: Can taste nice, Can help the symptoms...

Disadvantages: ...but doesn't get rid of them totally, costs a fortune

As I'm currently suffering from the worst illness known to man, the one that has had many of us on deaths door step and seen most lesser blokes proclaim to need to finalise their will, I'm currently suffering Man Flu. My dry rustic throat that ached with every breath last night has grown, it's tentacles rising and giving birth to a fully fledged head cold, my nose is bunged, my taste buds nigh on dormant and my eyes welling with death it's self. Oh heaven take me now, take me away from this suffering, the couch sure to be my last resting place, this is review my last words and the drink it's about my last drink. Oh this wasn't how it was supposed to be, drinking Lemsip on the couch was never the blaze of flaming glory I wanted to to go out in.

The blue cup filled with a dark looking green substance (not sure on the actual colour but it looks green in the cup) and giving out a reviving lemon fragrance that opens the nose, sets the eyes at ease and makes you suddenly realise that you've found a life line. Coming in a box of 6 sachets that are pretty much instant drinks (add hot water and you're ready to go) the nurse (we'll my mother in this case...) has made a single dose of the drink for me. Realising how her son is on deaths door step she's decided to save him (until he gets this months earnings in his bank account...) for now with this magical drink. A combination of hot lemon and magic the drinks rejuvenating powers are second to none as far as the dread man flu is concerned.

The drink tastes like hot lemonade with a bitter after taste and bite that wakes your mouth up a bit and helps you feel slightly more human than the decomposing corpse of man flu sufferer. As the cup gets emptier the taste becomes stronger to the point where the drink becomes incredibly bitter at the bottom of the cup showing up the drinks first flaw, the lack of consistency in the taste which near the top is lemony near the bottom is bitter and not too pleasant. Another of the flaws is that it's overly thin and not as syrupy as some drinks (which act as great throat lubricants to open up the air waves and help speech).

The worst problem however is the price, half of the proverbial will was wasted on the 5 sachets that despite helping me to feel more alive did break the bank (£3 or so for 5 cups of drink, I must have been hallucinating this morning too). Worst of all when looking at the price and what the product really is, it's just warm lemonade, now a better version that can be done far cheaper (and have similar effects) is something my mum taught me how to do (though it's not as easy). Take 1 or 2 spoonfuls of honey, a cup of lemonade and microwave them together, add a lemon slice (as in a slice of lemon not the cake) and your ready to go at a huge saving.

Despite the fact I'm feeling slightly revived (3 cans of Red Bull may have had something to do with that too) I am starting to realise...I miss my money, I still have a blocked nose and sound like an 80 a day smoker. Yes I am alive, but fully cured I am not. Sure it helped make the feeling of the dreaded man flu less dominant over my feeble body, but it was just hot lemonade...wasn't it?

Summary: Hugely overpriced hot lemonade that seems to open the nostrils whilst the drink lasts
