Out of all the essential oils, I must confess that Lime Oil is my favourite. The correct name is Citrus Aurantifolia, but I will now only refer to it by the common name. (Phew! I hear you cry!) I have had bouts of depression in the past but a sniff of this oil seems to always seems to pick me up. It is very refreshing, with a clean, sharp and tangy citrus smell. As I found, smells play an important effect on the body, and its emotional well being. Lime essential oil has a revitalising, tangey aroma (top note) that stimulates the senses and uplifts the spirit. I love in a diffuser on those dark days that we get in the winter. It's botanical name is Citrus Aurantifolia (family:rutaceae). It is made from the fruit peel in the West Indies. The main problem with lime oil is that it is phototoxic. That means that if you expose the skin to sunlight after using this oil you will most probably get a skin reaction. However, it is very likely to happen at this time of year in this country so I think you are reasonably safe!
