Advantages: It works, it really works

Disadvantages: None

I have suffered from hay fever since I was 12 and it's horrible. The symptoms I get are itchy eyes, streaming nose, sneezing at the worst in the summer it can be 6 sneezes in a row. After I've had these symptoms for a few days it gets worse I get tired because I can't sleep at night and my throat starts to get sore. Its rotten I just want the summer to end and the rain to come. It really spoils some of the summer for me.

I have always had medicine from the doctors which I have to start in April so that it builds up and is ready for the bad months usually the end of May until the end of July. I even get a steroid nasal spray to boost the tablets and they work to a degree. What I find is that they seem to work for a couple of weeks but they can't cope and the symptoms break through for 4 or 5 days, then they begin to work again. I am on really strong tablets but nothing seems to be fool proof. Until now:

I heard about the Lloyds hay fever allergy reliever from a friend how had heard about good results with it. When you get it as bad as this you will just about do anything to get rid of it. The device is a two pronged thing that appear to be made of glass. You push both of these things up your nostrils and press the button on the control pad. It fires light up your nose two specific types of light for about two and a half minutes. The light is meant to kill the histamine blood sells in your nose that cause the hay fever symptoms thus stopping all symptoms including the itchy eyes.

Does it work?

For me yes it did. I used it for about 4 days before it took effect and I used it 4 times a day which is the maximum recommended usage. It said in the instructions that you can use it in conjunction with other medicines which is what I did. It really made a big difference to me. I bought it at the start of July and it really helped me through the summer. There were a couple of days when I didn't use it as much as I did at the start of the summer and it was amazing how quickly the symptoms came back. It feels a bit weird when you first use it but when you start to see the results it's worth it. There is no major discomfort when you are using it. Your nose glows red from the light which my kids found highly amusing.

The retail price was £29.99 but there was a special offer on and it cost me £14.99. I was really sceptical when I got it but like I said before when you get it so bad you'll give anything a go. It really worked and I can't wait to get to next summer when I will try it without any other tablets or the steroids

Summary: Give it a try all you sceptics

As a sufferer myself, and not liking the majority of the doze-inducing OTC medications, I am intrigued by this - thanks for the review - it adds to my armoury for next sneeze season!

I dunno - I'm still sceptical - I'd love to see some research published on this device!
