Advantages: Big, Juicy, Work to Some extent

Disadvantages: Could be stronger than they are?

When suffering from a sore throat in the dead of winter, I annually find myself infront of the throat sweet section in my local pharmacy. Lockets are a favourite of mine, they are pretty much my throat sweet staple, and I always buy a packet to supplement whatever other fancy throat sweet brands I decide to trial that year.

I believe lockets are available in a variety of flavours, but I will admit here that I am only really familiar with the traditional Lemon and Honey variety. Lockets are quite chunky sweets, which seems to be unusual on the throat sweet market at present, with many brands packaging up dissapointingly small sweets. It's a simple case of economies of scale in my opinion, the bigger the sweet, the better it works, even if it's just the placebo effect.

They are a hard sweet, but the core contains a thick honey type filling which is very soothing on the throat. I believe it contains some kind of local anaesthetic, which provides localised pain relief.

They can be quite expensive, but compared to some other brands available, I'd say they are reasonably priced.

Lockets are definately the staple when you have a sore throat, and will take a lot of beating if any competitor wants to out do their reputation.

Summary: Might aswell give them a try, although really, prevention is better than cure.
