Advantages: Tasty

Disadvantages: dont really do much

For some bizarre reason, I always end up with a sore throat around this time of year; maybe it's the change in temperature or something. Anyway I could feel it coming on and although I am not a believer in any kind of remedies of this type, I did pick some up. The reason being that when I am trying to get off to sleep my throat dries out and the soreness gets worse but if I'm sucking something then it tends to be better and I can get off to sleep easier.

A packet of Lockets will set you back around 60p and you can buy them in a few flavours but I always go for the honey and lemon ones. In each packet there are around ten sweets and the actual sweets have a hard outer layer containing an 'oozy' liquid tasting of honey.

I find that the flavour is quite strong although if you have a cold then you might not taste it much. I always find that I can't resist biting through them. I will spend a few minutes sucking it and then I will go in for the kill and let the juice loose! There isn't much liquid and if you blink then you will miss it.

I find that these are a nice thing to have around but they only make my throat feel better whilst I'm sucking them. This is a problem because the sweets are high in sugar and for someone who likes to watch her weight during the week, I don't want to be chewing on these all day long.

I would say that these are on a par with Halls Soothers but Halls Soothers have more flavours and are by fair a lot tastier having said that these are a nice comfort sweet to have by your side when you feel under the weather; having a packet of these in your hand somehow warrants the fact that you must feel extremely poorly and if you have them on show then you get lots of supportive looks which is always a bonus!

Summary: Not great

I'd be interested to know what the active ingredients are...are they actually a medicine, or a sweet?
