I think the recent bout of cold weather and odd night time temperatures have made me develop a sure throat. When you visit a chemist they always have so many various types of solutions and some are so expensive.
I always look out for the golden packet of Lockets because without a doubt they are the tastiest and the most appealing. You find them usually with the pain medications and there is other flavours as well but I settle for the Honey and Lemon flavour at 57p.
You have inside this packet 10 sweets and I call them sweets because they do resemble hard boiled sweets and they are all wrapped in a wrapper which is labeled Lockets. They appear sticky on first impressions and when you place them inside your mouth you suck them and you get this nice menthol sensation going around your mouth.
There is a nice sticky and syrup type taste which is delicious but you also know in the centre is a rich honey and lemon filling which is going to help calm the pain of the throat down when it reaches there. My problem is that at times I do eat them like sweets but if you suck them I find when the syrup in the centre comes out it definitely feels better.
The Lockets are meant to give you Vitamin C to help fight an infection and to be honest they do a far to much sugar. Upon reading I found they had 4.1g of sugar per Locket which is quite high but I find sugar helps me sometimes regain that energy I lose when I feel ill.
There is a recommendation not to exceed 3 packets a day but I think sometimes the biggest problem is that you can get addicted to them. When I was younger I would eat a pack for fun in one sitting but I usually take one every other hour because otherwise I feel they do not work.
They leave a pleasant taste for about 30 minutes with me after I have finished having one and with a good price between 50p - 80p I think they are very good.
There is a guide as to how many children should have in terms of packs as well which people should read as well.
I would say if you take these early on when you have a slight cold and sore throat they tend to ease the pain and the problems tend to disappear however if they do not perhaps you need something stronger.
Summary: A good sore throat remedy
