Advantages: very soft, strong smelling, clears nose.
Disadvantages: oil can get on hands.
Its very cold outside, and whilst I dont have a full blown cold, I have been plagued by a sniffly nose, and bunged up sinuses for the last few days.
When at the coop this evening, I happened upon Lotus vapour release tissues, on display on the end of an aisle.
I guess a lot of people have the sniffles around this time of year.
Lotus tissues have got together with the makers of Olbas (Olbas oil is a really strong smelling nose clearer. Thing superstrength vicks, in liquid form).
What do they look like?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The little packet is green at the top, and bright orange at the bottom. Not the most tasteful of colour combinations, but its certainly eye catching. Weirdly, the packet itself made me feel a little better. It was so bright and summery, it made me feel a bit brighter just by looking at it.
The Lotus tissue symbol is emblazoned across the top of the packet, and the words *vapour release* swoosh across the middle...in a kid of vapoury design.
The packet then has the Olbas symbol, and has a little diagram illustrating how to use the tissue (no, not the blowing nose bit....the crushing of the tissue to release the olbas vapours).
The side of the packets gives you contact nmbers and addresses for the company.
The back of the packet gives instructions on how to use the tissues, a list of ingredients, and the bar code.
How do they work?
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, according to the back of the tissue packet, the tissues have been sprayed with teeny little capsules of Olbas oil, and when you crush the tissue, the vapours are released, go up your poorly nose, and help you breath easier. Then you can blow your nose with ease.
List of ingredients.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
For those who are interested....
Dementholised mint oil, Eucalyptus oil, cajaput oil, menthol, juniperberry oil.
Do they work?
~~~~~~~~~~
Well, first of all, I could smell the tissues before I even opened the plastic, which pleased me, as I want my menthol tissues to be extra strong smelling when I have a blocked up nose.
When opening the packets, the tissues are even stronger smelling.
The tissues are soft, and have a pretty almost aztec design around the outside.
When crushing the tissue, as instructed, the smell becomes even stronger, and really cleared my nose, immediatly. The tissues were soft on my nose and lips, and I really did feel better after using just one.
Last Thoughts.
~~~~~~~~~
In my opinion, much better than other tissues I have used when I have a cold. My nose still feels clear, a good ten minutes after blowing it, and the olbas has really made my head feel clearer.
The tissues were quite cheap, at about 60p for a single pack, but I believe you can buy several packs together for around £1.50.
One last note. The oil on the tissues can transfer to your hands and mouth, leaving them feeling a bit oily afterward. Just wash your hands afterward.
A very good buy for a snuffly nose.
Summary: Very clevr little tissues for a poorly nose.
- 06/01/09 Hiya! This would be quite a good review...but if it were me, I'd delete the first paragraph (perhaps put something like that on your profile page?)
Imagine you were someone looking for the best tissues for your cold, and you ran across that first parapgraph (which you well might, if you've google searched) - you wouldn't know that a useful review was going to follow.
But do keep in mind, that's just my opinion - I'm not speaking for anything official. :D
