Advantages: it works!, no side-effects
Disadvantages: none
Over-the-counter homeopathy cured my hay-fever. I first developed hay-fever when I was about 20, and spent many a summer sneezing away. During a short stint I spent working in a hospital laboratory, I was tested for a number of allergies, and my reaction to grass pollen went off the scale. About ten years into the sneezing, I saw how homeopathic eye drops helped to unblock my baby’s tear-ducts and stopped recurrent eye infections where conventional treatment had failed. As a result, I decided to try a combined remedy made by Nelsons for my hay-fever. At that time, it was marketed under a different name, but Pollena seems to be the same preparation except that the tablets are bigger and you get fewer for your money. It is a mix of three homeopathic remedies which are traditionally used for hay-fever. If you want the full tech. spec. it consists of the 6th homoeopathic potency of Allium Cepa, Euphrasia officinalis and Sabadila officinarum. That first summer, I took the tablets several times a day for about a month. After a few days, my hay-fever was under control. The next summer, I used the remedy for about a week, and after that did not need it any more. The year after that, I took two tablets at the first sneeze, and this was enough to keep me sneeze-free for the whole season.. Since then, over the last 15 years or so, I have been more or less free of hay-fever. Some years, I start to feel a slight tickle in the nose and the throat, an itch in the eyes, and, if I am not quick enough in grabbing the Pollena, I might even sneeze. One or two doses of Pollena are usually enough to stop any further developments, although I do need to continue treating myself for longer periods during some bad seasons. Being able to beat hay-fever like this has transformed my life; I can go for walks in the country at all times during the year, without worrying about having a good supply of tissues! Pollena has none of the side-effects associated w
ith anti-histamines, and can be taken safely by people of all ages. I am a PhD immunologist, and I know exactly what happens in the immune system to make some people suffer from hay-fever and other allergies. All the theory that I spent so many years learning tells me that homeopathy should have no effect; and yet I am now free of all the symptoms that made summers so miserable, thanks to Pollena.

- 20/03/02 Dare I say that I can't wait for the Hay Fever season to try this out? Well I can, but it wouldn't be true. I shall certainly be trying these tablets though. After having hayfever for the last 25 years, I'm getting pretty fed up with it. |
