      Nuk nasal decongester

My poor little boy has a cold and being only four months old he is probably feeling a bit rotten. He has the worst blocked nose and you can hear when he breathes in all the snot going back and forth in his nose. You can also see it dripping from his nose too but when he breathes back in you can see it all go up his nose again, not the nicest sight and its really hard to clear out and get with just a tissue which is where this Nuk nasal decongester comes in very handy.

This is such a great baby product and one that I definitely recommend as we have used it so many times that it was well worth the £4.09 that we paid for it from Boots. Sometimes you are told about all these baby products that you need but then after buying them you never use them but this we use all the time when the kids have a cold. I first got it when my little girl was a baby as it had been recommended to us by some other parents who had a baby a few months older than our girl.

The Nuk nasal decongester is basically a tool that helps you to remove the snot and all the nasty stuff from inside a babes nose. It is not an inhaler or have any type of medicine in it, it is just an instrument so totally safe in that respect. Obviously a baby is not able to blow their nose so the only option you have for clearing their nose is to use a tissue but this does not get rid of everything you can't reach. The Nuk nasal decongester looks like a small version of a turkey baster. It has a plastic nozzle and then at the end of it is a big rubber bulb. The two come apart which allows you to clean it easily.

It is very easy to use. You basically put the nozzle up one nostril and gently close the other nostril with your other finger. When you are placing the decongester in the nose you firstly have to press in the rubber bulb so you create a suction. Then once the nozzle is in place you let go of the bulb and this suction action works to pull all the snot from the babes nostril down and into the bulb below. ITs amazing to see how much actually comes out and if I'm honest its really satisfying to see that you have got all this snot out of your babes nose. You can see that it is a bit uncomfortable as basically the snot is being sucked from the back of the throat and coming up and out through the nose and when I do this to my little boy he shudders a little bit and his eyes water but you can really see the relief on his face to have his nose finally clear. You do need to do it quite a bit throughout the length of the cold but this is such a simple but great baby product and one I recommend.
