Advantages: Placebo?

Disadvantages: They just made me feel drowsy. They did not take away or numb the pain.

Well, this was supposed to help relieve my period pains. Which admittedly are pretty bad (we are talking crawl-on-the-floor, ball-your-eyes-out pain here).

I read the pack which told me they had not just ibuprofen, but codine too. I know ibuprofen is supposed to help with aches and pains and cramps, and also that I had taken iburpofen alone and it had made no difference.
Codine I was given once a long time ago when an emmergency doctors confused IBS with my appendix (luckily the correct doctor removed it 2 days later... but thats another story!) The codine I was given then, took away alot of the pain, and I had assumed the same would happen when I took these pills.

I took 2 just as the cramps were appearing. I did really think they were going to work. But 30 minutes later, I was still waiting and my pain was getting worse. I waited the next 4 hours in agony, took some more. Still nothing. I was by then feeling very tierd. I dont know if this was because I had taken 4 of these tablets in 5 hours. Codine has been known to cause drowsiness, but also my pains are not a piece of cake, they do expend alot of energy, so it could well have been this too. Then again, I have not ever felt that tierd because of a cramp before-I literally could not keep my eyes open.

I ended up, after 2 nights not sleeping more then 30 minutes at a time (as I was in so much pain) going to see my doctor, I dont think these pills did anything for my pain at all. I have thought about this and do wonder why. I used to take ibuprofen alot before hand and my body may well have gotten used to it. This can happen. But I had not taken codine for about 7 years so I am confused as to why it made no difference.

I ended up taking a prescribed medication, and now use feminax ultra, it works, not 100% but enough to make a difference. The nurofen plus didnt do anything but make me drowsy.

I would not buy this again, unless I had a different problem and wanted to test them out, eg a bad headache or similar. They retail at £5, the same as feminax ultra. I dont think I need to tell you which I will be going for.

Summary: I would not buy these again.

Placebo is the first word that came to mind for me too. These don't work for me usually, maybe it is designed as a psychological thing for consumers.
