Intro

Although I am not prone to suffering from allergies as such I do have the odd bout of hay fever type symptoms. This is the time of year where those unfortunate enough to have this very irritating and unpleasant condition find most discomforting. There are several proprietary remedies or aids available over the counter and Piriton is perhaps the best known of this selection.

Piriton

The main active ingredient of Piriton is chlorphenomine maleate, which is an anti- histamine. Histamine is a substance produced by the body in reaction to an allergy of some kind, it causes some rather nasty and definitely unwanted symptoms, such as rashes itches and is also associate with a reaction to certain foods.

The tablets are of a light brown colour and contain 4mg of the big word (chlorphenomine maleate) that I quoted in the beginning of this section, another ingredient used in the product of this effective hay Fever treatment is lactose so this may affect those with an intolerance to lactose and therefore medical advice should be taken, as it should be where there are any doubts on the effectiveness or the side effects of any drug administered. What basically happens is the chlorphenomine maleate blocks the body's ability to produce histamine and therefore reduce the symptoms associated with many common allergies.

My son's girlfriend has the misfortune to suffer from hay Fever and uses products such as this to ease the uncomfortable and sometimes painful symptoms. The few times I have used this I have found it extremely effective in reducing swelling caused by endless itching and scratching, and almost completely stopping the itch which caused all the trouble. With so much pollen floating around at this time of year it is hard to avoid being caught out so it is handy to have a pack f this at hand to relieve any concerns.

What I discovered tonight though whilst taking my little doggie to the vet with similar symptoms is that you can use Piriton to treat allergies in pets to. My vet suggested giving Tasha twice the dose advertised for human relief so she is now getting two tablets every four hours and there is a visible reduction in the redness around her eyes. A pack of thirty tablets cost in the region of £4.29 and provides treatment for 7 days after which if you are still suffering badly consultation with a qualified medical person should be your first priority.

Now that I look at the box which houses the thirty tablets I can see a picture of a dog along with common causes of allergic reactions, such as insects, freshly cut grass, and pollen from those blooming beauties. There is no need to suffer the very distressing symptoms, this product is used my millions to ease the suffering and I have found it very useful in treating my rather trivial complaint, and indeed Tasha's allergic reaction.

Summary

If you are in doubt about the use of any drug get proper advice, those kind people at Boots will help you our should you require help and they will give good practical advice on how to beat the hay Fever and allergies. I have never found them forceful in selling me Piriton just to make a sale they have advised me on other products and left the final decision to me. I chose Piriton and am glad I did. I feel I can speak for Tasha in saying she also is quite appreciative of my decision.

Summary: A great procuct
