Advantages: Quick pick me up, better than energy drinks
Disadvantages: Not a permanent fix, shouldn't be taken regularly.
Pro Plus are caffiene tablets 'For the relief of temporary tiredness'.
I'm ashamed to say, I have formed a slight addiction to these tablets! I used to work silly hours then have to get up early to care for my son so I knew a thing or two about tiredness.
I used to drink a lot of energy drinks but they didn't really agree with me as they are full of sugar, additives and all sorts of other nasty things so when a friend mentioned that you can get your 'hit' in tablet form, I headed straight to my nearest supermarket!
You can buy Pro Plus in packs of 12, 24 or 48. Each tablet contains 50mg of caffeine and you should take 1-2 tablets as required. This is the equivalent of drinking a strong cup of coffee. I detest coffee so cannot compare the effects but they do the same job as any energy drink and are a lot better for you.
You shouldn't exceed 8 tablets per day but if you have a high caffiene tolerance than it shouldn't do you any harm. I have exceeded this limit many times and have never suffered any side effects. I have a very high caffiene tolerance though so if you don't have it regularly then stick within the guidelines as over indulgence can cause shakes, dizziness, disorientation and nervousness.
These tablets are great for a quick fix if you do a double shift or know that you will be up all night, they can also perk you up when you are feeling a little rundown, but they are not a permanent solution so please see your GP if you experience these symptoms for more than a few days.
Overall - a great little pick me up and so handy to have in your medicine cabinet as you never know when you may need them!

- 22/04/09 I understand your comments Matty, I did say that unless you have a very high tolerance to caffiene, as I do, then you should stick within the guidelines.
I have friends that drink 6-7 cups of coffee a day - they consume more than 50% more caffiene than what is contained in a days worth of these tablets so they would hardly notice the effects of these tablets.
The company involved here had to publish strict guidelines to make the instructions suitable for everyone but if you consume stupid amounts of caffeine anyway then a couple of these tablets aren't going to take effect as you are used to them already.
Yes there is conflicting stuff in here. Half of it is my experiences with Pro Plus and the other half are those guidelines. I have given my experiences as that is what you do in a review but I have also pointed out the recommended guidelines so people can make up their own minds x |

Althoug h you mention that these 'shouldn't be taken regularly', you also say that you 'have formed a slight addiction', and you comment that some could go above the recommended dose, and that you often do.
I'm just a little concerned that we are not medical professionals, and it might not be such a good idea to offer advice that goes against the packaging on a public site?
Sorry if this seems harsh, because I know that you do recommend not using them as a permanent solution, but there's just some conflicting stuff in here. (at least that how it seems to me - this is, as always, just my opinion :) ) |
