Advantages: Nice tasting and effective.

Disadvantages: Could be mistaken for sweets.

As many of you might know I am an avid dieter, in fact I have always been a dieter.

Now with great weight loss can come a few minor ailments, the product I will now review being one of the antidotes to my particular dieting problem.

The product I will now review is - "Remegel calcium carbonate"

My particular dieting ailment is acid indigestion, and this, at times, has crucified me to the point of the acid coming back up my throat and burning my throat and on one occasion taking the skin off the back of my tongue.

I have tried a few different remedies in the past finding them either inedible or delicious to eat but not actually working, until I came across these.

Well I say came across, my dad also suffers quite badly with acid reflux due to his love for anything spicy, so old asbestos mouth advised I gave these a go. I did and have never looked back!

The remegel themselves come in three chewits sized packets within a cardboard box. Each chewy tablet is wrapped individually and there are 8 tablets per pack.

This particular version is mint flavoured, though I am hard pushed to recall ever seeing another flavour, though I may well be wrong!

Instructions for use are simple, chew 1-2 tablets to alleviate symptoms, then if reoccurrence happens chew 1 tablet an hour taking no more than 12 tablets in a 24 hour period.

I always take 2 as soon as I get that niggling sicky feeling, I never let it develop into full indigestion as I them find it doesn't dissipate as quickly.
Within 10 minutes of swallowing the tablets my symptoms are usually gone.

The tablets themselves, as mentioned earlier, are mint flavoured. When you first unwrap them the mint scent is more than detectable even though the remegel actually looks like a square lump of play-doh!

The taste again threw me, due to having better results with the old fashioned and usually vile tasting formulas (I am an 80's child and was at the mercy for many years with milk of magnesia!), I was really pleased to find that these actually taste like sweets, these are pleasure to consume.

This plus side for me of course comes with a downside, that being my kids. If ever they found out how they tasted I am sure they would not be able to resist eating them, so they now reside in my highest cupboard, well out of the reach of the young 'uns!

I am not entirely sure how these work, needless to say that after reading the bumf on the back of the box the main ingredient is calcium carbonate mixed with peppermint oil. Now from experience I am aware that the oil is a good natural remedy for heartburn and stomach settling and calcium carbonate, I assume, is like chalk one of the main ingredients in many of these type of products.

There are a few restrictions of use with these, they are not to be taken by children under 12 years old and shouldn't be taken by diabetic's, people on antibiotics, kidney disease sufferers and by people who suffer from hypocalcaemia (too much calcium within their bodies).
If the person is pregnant advice should be taken before use, I lived on Renee when pregnant with my two children due to excessive biliousness, but there is no mention of these tablets helping to alleviate those symptoms.

There are only two side effects that can be sustained from taking these....constipation or belching, after suffering with heartburn these symptoms are a walk in the park but should be told to the pharmacist.

The price of these is around the £1.50 mark, which for how many tablets you get is a good price.

These work for me, though I do imagine that this could be a personal thing, but for a pleasantly tasting remedy to a horrible ailment these would be my number one!

Thanks for reading x

I swear by them too, albeit for fairly mild indigestion.

I suffer with this too, it's horrible. Not tried these (yet). I might give them a go, thanks for the info.
