Advantages: Effective, solves the problem
Disadvantages: Too many can cause other stomach problems
A night out on the town and a kebab, or a curry on the way home is quite a pleasant experience for many of us. Or perhaps you prefer an Italian meal with loads of garlic, or even a slap up five course dinner as a treat. The pleasure if often short-lived (for those around us anyway.)
Yes, I'm talking about wind, bottom burps, fa**s, gas, trumps, or whatever else you wish to call them. Chemical reactions in our intestines release gas which is made up of methane, nitrogen, bacteria and particles from whatever we have eaten, or drunk. Yuk! Too much information? Well, yes, quite probably.
Wind can also get trapped when it can't find a way out and cause stomach pain and a feeling of bloatedness.
Rennie Deflatine helps to resolve this problem and make us pleasant to be around again!
***What Is This?***
This product is in tablet form and is manufactured by Bayer Health Care. It contains an ingredient called simeticone which can ease the pain and discomfort of trapped wind and bloatedness. It also helps to ease that awful feeling of having eaten too much food.
***How Does It Work?***
It works by gently dispersing the trapped air bubbles that cause discomfort so that you don't have the embarrassment of them being released in the other way. The tablets are chewable and can also neutralise excess acid which causes indigestion and other symptoms.
***Packaging***
The packaging is bright orange cardboard box with a red and white Rennie logo. There is a picture of a 'sugar free mint' on the front and full information is printed on the back.
Inside are 16 foil wrapped tablets and an information leaflet for anyone who might need it.
***Ingredients***
Each tablet contains simeticone (25g), calcium carbonate (680mg) , magnesium carbonate as active ingredients.
There is also sorbitol, potato starch, talc, mint and lemon flavouring.
***Taste And Ease Of Use***
These tablets are chewed and they do have a quite pleasant minty flavour, but leave a chalky taste and feeling in your mouth like most products of this type do.
The recommended dose is one, or two tablets, chewed, or sucked. I usually find I need two and prefer to chew them up and swallow them.
The individual tablets can be torn off the foil strip very easily if you want to carry a few with you in your bag, or pocket.
***Cautions***
If symptoms are very severe, or go on for a long time it is essential to consult a doctor. Anyone with an underlying digestive problem should consult a doctor before taking these.
It is not advisable to take these if you are taking antibiotics and advice should be sought from pharmacist, or doctor.
Each tablet contains sorbitol which, in some people, can act as a laxative. So take care if this sweetener affects you that way.
Any unexpected side effects should always be reported to a doctor.
However, the manufacturer specifically says on the box that this product can be used during pregnancy.
***Verdict***
I find Rennie Deflatine really useful. They work in the way they are supposed to.
Two of these soon gets rid of embarrassing wind and leaves you free to do what you want with out worry exactly when you might.......well, you know the rest.
This is an excellent product and I always keep a pack in the house, just in case, or anyone else who visits, needs them.
Now I just have to find an equivalent for my dog!
Summary: Excellent product that everyone should have available
