I have always been a loyal sudocreme user but recently i have discovered something which works even better! - Savlon Skin Healing Cream. Savlon is used for cleansing skin wounds and helping prevent infection. Savlon has many uses, works brilliantly and quickly, smells nice.

HOW EFFECTIVE IS IT....?

...on cuts & grazes

I have used this many times on cuts and grazes and it works brilliantly, it soothes the wound, rubs in easily and works quickly and effectively and prevents infection. My little brother recently cut his arm on something sharp and it was quite a nasty cut, so i put some savlon on it when the accident happened and then re-applied it when he went to bed and by morning the cut was noticably better and healed very quickly.

...on Insect bites & stings

Amoungst my many allergies i have one to insect bites. I recently went on holiday and seemed to be an insect magnet but luckily i had my savlon with me and so i used it as soon as i was bitten along with my normal antihistamine and it soothed the pain and healed my skin remarkably quickly.

...on minor burns & scalds

About a week ago i was making cheese on toast and managed to burn my arm on the grill which was very painful! it wasnt a bad burn but it damn well hurt and started to blister! I used the savlon and yet again it soothed and helped my skin heal quickly.


...on shaving cuts

Im beginning to sound accident prone now but its not true...honest!! anyway, shaving cuts, now these hurt like hell and always happen even when you use razors that are suposed to prevent you from getting cut! now as you probably have guessed by now! - this is where savlon comes to the rescue!! Its brilliant for soothing the pain and helping the cuts heal.


...on spots

Dont you just hate it when you get a huge painful red spot? Well i have a problem that i end up squeezing them to try and make them better but it never works! well unless immediately after squeezing you use savlon! i found that it heals my spots soooo quickly its amazing!

...on blackheads

I havent used this on blackheads so i cant comment but if the above is anything to go by then i assume it would work pretty well!

...on blisters & sores

If i get a blister i normally rub in a bit of savlon before applying the plaster and it helps it heal alot faster.

...on sunburn

I have found that savlon works just as effectively as any aftersun lotion i have tried and its a lot cheaper!!

...on nappy rash

I would say that this is just as effective as sudocreme for nappy rash although i have only used it on one baby's bottom so im not sure how it would come out in clinical trials!

...on chapped skin

Again, savlon works very well to heal the skin very speedily and soothes the dryness of chapped skin.

...as an anticeptic hand cream

This is the only use for savlon that i am not too sure on, it felt a bit thick to use as a handcreme and although it smells ok for use on cuts or injuries i wouldnt be overjoyed to have my hands smelling of it allday!!


THE PACKAGING
==============
The savlon cream comes in a blue rectangular box which has 'savlon anticeptic skin healing cream' in a large white font. The box has the ingredients and barcode on the back. The tube itself is a blue squeezy tube with 'savlon anticeptic skin healing cream' in a large white font on one side. The tube contains 30g of cream and has a white screwtop.

THE DIRECTIONS
===============
The directions for use are on the side of the box and instruct the user to gently apply the cream to the effected area with clean hands. The cream is very simple to use and rubs in well and is easily absorbed by the skin.

THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS
=======================
The two active ingredients are cetrimide 0.5% and chlorhexidine gluconate 0.1%.


THE SMELL AND FEEL.
===================
The cream smells ok for a cream and has a clean smell that is not too strong. The cream is white so when you rub it in you can see when it is absorbed. It is easy to apply and does not leave the skin feeling sticky or uncomfortable.


MY OVERALL OPINION
===================
I think savlon is fantastic stuff, i have also used it on my eczma and it healed it really quickly and stopped the itching. The only use of the cream which i wouldnt use it for is as a handcream purely because i think it would smell a bit odd as a hand cream, other than that i would definately reccomend it for all of the uses listed. It is also great value for money at £1.65 for a large 30g tube which lasts a long time even when used often. All in all a brilliant product that a first aid kit should not be without!
