Advantages: Cheap, Soothing

Disadvantages: None

I have been trying to remember to pick up some antiseptic cream for months now as I'm quite prone to burning, scratching and catching myself. And I find if you have nothing to help the healing process it takes much longer to get back to normal as you spend more time scratching or picking and making it worse.

So last weekend I was browsing Chemist Direct to restock my medicine cabinet, or should I say shelf and I remembered I needed to buy some antiseptic cream. I did a search and a whole list of different brands and products came up. I noticed the Savlon straight away, I had already heard about them and have on occasion in the past purchased that particular brand, so for me this seemed like the best option.

The Savlon Antiseptic Cream comes in 4 different sizes, 15g @ 95p, 30g @ £1.29, 60g @ £2.08 and 100g @ £3.02. I decided on the 15g as its just me and I dont think i'm quite that clumbsy just yet. The cream arrived 2 days later and believe it or not it was put to use straight away as I had burned my wrist taking something out of the oven the day before, oops, what a surprise.

Directions for use: With clean hands gently apply cream to the affected area. If symptons persist, or if any unwanted effects occur, stop using and consult your doctor or a pharmacist.

Savlon is an all round antiseptic cream that can be used on Cuts & Grazes, Insect Bites & Stings, Minor Burns & Scalds, Shaving Cuts, Blisters and Sores, Chapped Skin, Nappy Rash, Spots & Blackheads, Sunburn. It can also be used as a normal antiseptic hand cream for those of us who like to keep all germs at bay. So its basically cleanses and helps prevent infection in first aid and minor skin problems.

Active Ingredients: Cetrimide 0.5% w/w & Chlorhexidine Gluconate 0.1% w/w. Also contains: cetostearyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, methylhydroxybenzoate, propylhydroxybenzoate, perfume & purified water.

Its really good in my opinion, a small amount applied to the effected area goes on nice, smooth and evenly and you can feel the soothing effect straight away. And it really hurries the healing process along. I'm forever burning myself so it has really started to come in handy, I've used it no end of times already and the little tube still seems to be full, its like Mary Poppins handbag. I would recommend it to anyone whose prone to minor mishaps that are not serious enough to require medical attention + its pretty cheap nowadays and can be purchased at most supermarkets or pharmacies.

Summary: Good stuff

This is something I keep meaning to buy, but never seem to get round to it. However, I have a shopping list beside me so Savlon will be added right now. Thanks for the reminder.
