Advantages: Lots of Uses
Disadvantages: None For Me
Something we always have to hand in my house is a tube of savlon antiseptic cream. It has so many uses that it really is one of those products that a house should not be without.
I work a lot with my hands and get quite a few splinters and low grazes and cuts. The cream is good for keeping little healing wounds fresh from infection, but also is great for my hands because it keeps them soft and surprisingly moisturised.
You can use savlon for insect bites too and any blisters or even sun burn. It has a lot of general healing and moisturising properties so anything that needs protection from infection or to be cooled and moisturised, then savlon can handle it.
The tubes we buy come from Asda and you can get it off the shelf. I think last time we brought it the price was around £1.50, which is great I think. The 30g tubes come in a blue cardboard box, you can buy gels and liquids too, but I find the creams easy to apply. It has a pretty good expiration life and will stay good for use for a good few years (not that it lasts that long in our house).
From kids scraping knees, to keeping piercings and tattoos clean and fresh, savlon has a load of uses that make it a very versatile product.
One of the best things I find is that the light white cream is easily absorbed but most importantly doesn't really smell of anything. There is an ever so slight medical smell but that fades very quickly and leaves no scent on my skin which is a definite bonus.
Summary: Good To Have On Hand For Many Uses
