Savlon Antiseptic Cream
Advantages: Easily absorbed, non greasy, keeps wounds clean
Disadvantages: More expensive than other brands
Like most households, we have a little first aid section in our bathroom cupboard that contains some handy essentials. I always try to keep this stocked with some antiseptic cream, and Savlon is my first choice for such cream.
Savlon antiseptic cream is designed to cleanse and prevent infection. It is an over the counter product and can be purchased anywhere that sells medicines such as chemists and supermarkets. Savlon comes in a trademark blue tube with white writing and a white cap.
When you squeeze it out of the tube, the cream itself is thick and white. Savlon antiseptic cream is easy to apply - it simply glides onto the skin and is easily absorbed (unlike my other antiseptic cream of choice, Sudocrem!) It leaves no residue behind and doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy. It is also quite mild and gentle and does not sting the skin, making it suitable for use on children. This cream has quite a mild "antiseptic" smell to it. It is not overpowering and is actually quite pleasant.
I have used this for a number of things - on minor cuts and grazes, on my hands when they become chapped, on particularly nasty spots and on burns including mild sunburn. When applied to any of the above, I definitely find that this cream speeds the healing process and takes away some of the pain. It also reassures me that any wound I may have is clean and that I am less likely to get an infection.
This cream is available in different size packs - 30g, 60g and 100g. I normally buy the 60g which costs in and around the £3 mark depending on where you buy it. Whilst this is more expensive than other brands of antiseptic cream, I think it is worth it for a reputable brand that you know can be trusted and relied on.
All in all I think Savlon is a great antiseptic cream and I have no reason not to give it a rating of 5 stars. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed my review.
