Advantages: Reduces my snoring.
Disadvantages: A bit dear.
If you have been reading any of my opinions over the past few months then you may have come across my battle to stop snoring. So far I have escaped being murdered by my wife by promising to try a number of products that each claim to stop or reduce snoring. As I have been trying to stop snoring I have become a little bit more knowledgeable on the subject of snoring. Apparently there are three main types of snoring – nasal snoring, throat snoring and tongue snoring. It seems that it is important to find out what type of snoring you have, so that you can decide on the best method to reduce the noise. This involves you partner studying your snoring and telling you about it in the morning. This must be a sign of true love when your partner gets this involved. When you sleep at night the muscles in your throat relax and the airway reduces in size. This is quite normal and with most people this does not cause any problems, as their breathing is shallower at night. Unfortunately with some people this reduction causes the throat muscles to vibrate, which is snoring. This is definitely the most common type of snoring. Overweight people also tend to suffer more than others do as the extra weight in the neck closes up the throat even more. This is the type of snoring that I suffer from. I did not have much success with the first two products I tried (‘Snore No More’ and ‘Helps Stop Snoring’, but Snoreeze has been much more successful. I have written opinions on both of the other products if you are interested. Snoreeze is a spray containing a combination of essential oils and vitamins. It works by coating the soft tissues at the back of the throat and keeping the throat more rigid as you sleep and this stops the throat closing up, so reducing the snoring. The company claims that it is 93% effective in reducing snoring noise. I don’t know how much my snoring has reduced, but my wife assur
es me that it has got quieter. To use Snoreeze you spray the back of your throat three times. You then have to keep your head tilted back for 20 seconds, after that time you swallow the liquid. It is amazing how many cobwebs you can see during those 20 seconds as you stare at the ceiling. The spray does not have an unpleasant taste and it is hardly noticeable as you swallow it. As you may have guessed out of the three products I have tried so far, this is the most expensive at £12.95 for a bottle (60ml) that lasts for four weeks. This means that it would cost over £150 per year, but you must decide how big a problem your snoring is, to make up your mind if this cost is worth while. I am currently coming to the end of my second bottle, but I was lucky enough to get these two for free from Snoreeze as I participated in a survey for them. I shall have to buy a new bottle this weekend, but I know it is going to be worth it. On the ITV television programme ‘This Morning’ they had a phone-in feature on snoring with their resident doctor. At the end of this session he listed his top five suggestions for reducing snoring and Snoreeze was in his list. If you want some more information on the company you can look on their web site at: http://www.snoreeze.co.uk You can buy Snoreeze at most major chemists and health food stores, also you can buy it on-line. I have had no side effects at all from this product and I would certainly recommend it to anybody else who suffers from snoring, as long as the price is not prohibitive.
